
Johannes Dewilde
Johannes is a passionate conductor, musician and teacher. He received professional training at various conservatories in Flanders and holds two master’s degrees in Choral conducting and Music Theory – Counterpoint and a bachelor’s degree (performing musician, option trumpet / cornet).
Johannes teaches at the Music Academy Go! Ghent (Choir, Choral conducting and Musical Cultural Education). Between 2013 and 2021 he worked as a lecturer at Artevelde, University of applied sciences in the Bachelor of Teacher in Secondary Education – Musical Education. He has also taught as a guest lecturer at theUniversity of Easter Finland (Joensuu). In addition to his master’s studies with Luc Anthonis and Geert Hendrix,he acquired further training and skills withdifferent teachers, includingDirk Brossé, David Anne, Marc-Michael De Smet, Florian Heyerick, Ludo Claessen, Jan Vuye, Patrick Peire, Louis Buskens (NL), Jard van Nes (NL), Aarne Saluveer (Estland) and Brady Allred (US). Both as conductor and coach he has led several renowned (semi-)professional choirs and ensembles.He works as a choir coach and jury member at several festivals (such as EMJ) and competitions and is regularly invited as a coach and teacher for various conductor courses and masterclasses. He is currently chief conductor of the youth choir Panta Rhei, the Brussels Young Adults Choir (BYAC) and the (inter)nationally awarded choirs Amaranthe and vocal ensemble SAEVUS. He is also guest conductor of the Ghent Singers, a professional ensemble, based in Ghent. Johannes has conducted many concerts in Belgium and abroad (including Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, France, Finland, etc.). He also won several conductor’s prizes. At the Musica Eterna Rome Festival, Johannes received the conductor's prize for outstanding achievements. At the CantaRode Kerkrade competition he won the prize for the best conductor.
